Bhadra Forest Clearance Delays ₹272-Cr Road Project

The Public Works Department’s (PWD) ₹272-crore project to restore the 45-km direct road between Chikkamagaluru and NR Pura is currently awaiting survey clearance from the Forest Department due to alignment through the Bhadra wildlife zone. The clearance will enable the PWD to complete the detailed project report (DPR) for developing the critical 13-km stretch (km 32 to km 45), which was submerged following the construction of the Bhadra dam between Sarya and Kusgal. Once operational, the restored corridor will bring down travel time to nearly one hour.
