Concrete Commitments: Nagpur's ₹900 Crore Road Revolution

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has received state approval for Phase V of its cement road initiative, with a sanctioned budget of ₹900 crore to convert 135 key tar roads—spanning 89.22 km—into long-lasting concrete roads.

This phase is designed to integrate with Phase IV roads and includes the installation of rainwater harvesting systems to combat urban flooding and support groundwater recharge, aligning with the city's broader urban resilience strategy.

Zone-wise allocations reflect a combination of political support and localized infrastructure planning:

Ashi Nagar: 22 roads covering 16.49 km, Dharampeth: 15.36 km, routed via the Chief Minister’s Office, Nehru Nagar: 12.48 km, Hanuman Nagar: 7.94 km, backed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Gandhibagh: 3.25 km, supported by MLA Narendra Borkar and local corporators, Lakadganj: 13.35 km, Mangalwari: 11.90 km, Laxminagar: 7.65 km, Dhantoli: 6.80 km

Officials emphasized that the project not only aims to improve road durability but also advances Nagpur’s commitment to sustainable and climate-resilient urban infrastructure.
