On 14 September 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for several transformative infrastructure and healthcare projects in Assam’s Darrang district, marking a significant boost to the state’s development agenda.
Key projects launched include the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, a GNM School, and a B.Sc. Nursing College, aimed at expanding access to quality medical education and healthcare services in the region.
PM Modi also inaugurated the ambitious Guwahati Ring Road Project, designed to ease traffic congestion and enhance regional connectivity, alongside the Kuruwa–Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River, which is expected to drive socio-economic growth by improving access across key areas.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was present at the event, presented a memento to the Prime Minister on the occasion of Krishak Swahid Diwas, commemorating the sacrifices of farmers.
Later in the day, in Numaligarh (Golaghat district), PM Modi inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant at the Numaligarh Refinery (NRL)—a step toward promoting clean energy and reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
The projects launched during the visit have a combined investment of over ₹18,530 crore, which Chief Minister Sarma described as a “momentous occasion” for Assam’s progress.
The Prime Minister’s two-day visit also featured a roadshow, reflecting the Centre’s continued focus on boosting development and infrastructure in the Northeast.
