Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), along with three leading private sector developers—Adani Energy Solutions (AESL), Resonia (formerly Sterlite Grid32), and Tata Power—have emerged as key contenders for a major intrastate transmission system (InSTS) project in Pune, Maharashtra.
These companies have cleared the technical evaluation stage, paving the way for the opening of initial price bids. The project is being awarded through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) model and is currently under the "Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission" entity—a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), which is managing the bidding process.
Officially titled “Network Expansion Scheme in Maharashtra for Removal of Transmission Constraints in Pune Region & Providing Supply to Data Centre Loads,” the project aims to enhance regional power infrastructure. It includes the construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between Jejuri and Hinjewadi GIS substations, with a transfer capacity of 2,000 MW. Additionally, four 400 kV line bays—two at each substation—will be installed to boost grid reliability and meet increasing demand.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months of the transfer of the special purpose vehicle (SPV).
