The Green Turn: BC Jindal's ₹15,000 Crore Energy Shift

BC Jindal Group, one of India’s prominent industrial conglomerates, has announced its entry into the renewable energy component manufacturing sector with a planned investment of ₹15,000 crore by 2030. This strategic move supports India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by the end of the decade.

The new vertical will focus on the production of solar cells and modules, battery storage cells, solar glass, and related assembly units. In the first phase, ₹4,000 crore will be invested to establish key infrastructure, including 2 GW solar cell and module capacity, 4 GWh of battery storage, and a solar glass facility with a 1,200 TPD capacity.

Maharashtra and Gujarat are being considered for setting up the manufacturing units, chosen for their strong infrastructure and logistical advantages. Around 40% of the output is expected to be used for the Group’s in-house renewable energy projects.

This diversification aligns with growing global and domestic demand for integrated, sustainable energy solutions, and underscores BC Jindal Group’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and energy security.
