Powering Up Bikaner: Juniper Green’s 60 MWh BESS Goes Live

Juniper Green Energy, through its subsidiary Juniper Green Cosmic, has successfully commissioned 60 megawatt-hours (MWh) of its 100 MWh merchant battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

This is the company’s first operational merchant BESS, making Juniper Green Energy one of the early entrants in India’s expanding energy storage market. The commissioned capacity has completed trial operations and received regulatory clearance from the Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre, with commercial operations commencing on 24 December 2025. The remaining 40 MWh is expected to be commissioned shortly. Once fully operational, the project will rank among the largest BESS installations in India, supporting merchant revenue opportunities such as peak power arbitrage, grid balancing, and ancillary services.

In addition, Juniper Green Energy has deployed a 400 MWh BESS at Fatehgarh, Rajasthan, which is scheduled to become operational by the first quarter of 2026. These developments reinforce the company’s commitment to India’s energy transition and to strengthening grid reliability and flexibility.
