Bengaluru’s ₹22k Crore Tunnel: Adani Emerges as L1.

The Adani Group has emerged as the lowest bidder for both packages of Bengaluru’s 16.75-km tunnel road project, which aims to provide a direct underground link between Hebbal and Silk Board junction.

The project is being implemented under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, with the government contributing 40 percent of the project cost and the remaining investment to be mobilised by private players. While Adani’s combined bid stands at ₹22,267 crore, it is notably higher than the government’s estimated project cost of ₹17,698 crore—around 24 percent higher for the first package and 28 percent for the second.

The higher-than-estimated bids have raised concerns over project viability and cost escalation. Other bidders, including Vishwa Samudra Engineering Ltd, also quoted prices above the government’s estimates, indicating broader cost pressures associated with the large-scale infrastructure project.
