The Andhra Pradesh government is poised to become a major clean energy hub, with the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) approving three large-scale renewable energy projects worth ₹25,000 crore, totaling over 2,800 MW in capacity.
As part of the initiative:
Tata Power Renewable Energy will develop a 400 MW solar plant in Anantapuramu district.
ACME Urja One will set up a 400 MW solar-plus-battery storage project with 600 MWh storage capacity in the same region.
Chinta Green Energy has been approved for a 2,000 MW pumped hydro storage project in Parvathipuram Manyam district, using water from local reservoirs.
These projects are expected to be completed within 24–48 months and will benefit from state-provided incentives, including land-lease subsidies, duty exemptions, and support from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
APTransco will facilitate grid integration, with most of the power intended for export. However, the state retains a 30% purchase option. Additionally, Ampin Energy Transition has received approval to expand its total renewable energy capacity to 351.80 MW in Kurnool and Nandyal districts.
These developments align with Andhra Pradesh’s goal of achieving 160 GW of renewable energy capacity, reinforcing its position as a leader in India’s green energy transition.
