NLC India Goes Green: A 1,000 MW Renewable Push with OREDA

State-run mining and power giant NLC India is accelerating its shift to clean energy. Through its subsidiary NLC India Renewables, the company has partnered with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to build 1,000 MW of green energy infrastructure in Odisha.

The ambitious joint venture will move beyond standard renewables to look at solar, wind, hybrid systems, battery storage, pumped hydro, and green hydrogen. Marked as a major milestone in NLCIL's journey away from traditional lignite and thermal power, the project aligns with India’s 2030 goal of hitting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity. Next steps for the venture include techno-commercial feasibility studies and standard regulatory clearances from the Ministry of Coal and relevant boards.
