Coal Ministry Opens ₹37,500 Crore Push for Coal Gasification

Marking a significant step toward enhancing domestic value addition, the Ministry of Coal has officially invited applications under its ₹37,500 crore financial incentive scheme for commercial-scale surface coal and lignite gasification projects. This Cabinet-approved initiative supports developers in converting domestic coal into high-value products like synthetic fuels and industrial feedstock. Detailed operational guidelines and the Request for Proposal (RFP) have already been issued, with the submission deadline established for September 7, 2026. A pre-application conference is scheduled for July 20 to brief prospective bidders and address stakeholder inquiries.
