BMW Industries x IOCL: Powering Steel with Clean Energy

BMW Industries Ltd. has partnered with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to its manufacturing facility in Bokaro, Jharkhand, marking a step toward cleaner and more efficient energy use in its operations.

The agreement was formalized at the Eastern Region Pipelines (ERPL) headquarters in Kolkata and reflects BMW Industries’ commitment to adopting sustainable energy solutions. By transitioning to PNG, the company aims to enhance energy efficiency while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing processes.

Commenting on the partnership, Harsh Bansal, Managing Director of BMW Industries, said the collaboration with IOCL strengthens the company’s focus on sustainable industrial practices and supports its efforts to integrate cleaner and more efficient energy sources into its operations.

BMW Industries is a prominent player in the steel sector, specializing in downstream steel products and value-added processing services across multiple segments of the steel value chain. The adoption of natural gas is expected to further improve operational performance while aligning with the company’s broader sustainability and environmental goals.
