Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. (TRSL), through its Shipbuilding and Maritime Systems (SMS) division, has secured its largest-ever shipbuilding contract—worth ₹467.25 crore (including GST)—from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) for the construction of two Coastal Research Vessels (CRVs) for the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
The contract includes a base value of ₹445 crore, with an additional ₹22.25 crore in GST, marking a significant milestone in TRSL’s expansion within India’s strategic maritime and oceanographic research domain.
Designed for long-duration missions, these CRVs will play a vital role in seabed geology studies, ocean resource mapping, environmental monitoring, and offshore mineral exploration. Outfitted with advanced onboard laboratories and real-time data processing capabilities, the vessels will strengthen India’s maritime research infrastructure.
Having previously delivered similar vessels for the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), TRSL is building on its legacy and reaffirming its position as a reliable partner in India's shipbuilding and marine innovation sector.
