The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has acquired a 1.5-acre land parcel in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for ₹829.43 crore to build its new headquarters.
According to property registration records accessed via Propstack, the 6,000 sq. m. site—comprising amalgamated plots C-44 and C-48 in G Block—has been leased to NPCI for 80 years. The organization plans to construct a 16-storey office tower with a total built-up area of around 5 lakh sq. ft., including four to five basement parking levels.
Currently, the permitted built-up area is approximately 24,076.4 sq. m. (about 2.59 lakh sq. ft.), indicating NPCI may need to obtain additional Floor Space Index (FSI) to meet its development goals.
The new headquarters will also feature a major research and development (R&D) centre, aligning with NPCI’s broader global expansion plans. CEO Dilip Asbe has stated the facility will accommodate around 5,000 employees. NPCI had initially applied for land at BKC in August 2024.
