Reliance Defence Bags ₹600 Crore Rheinmetall Export Deal

Reliance Defence, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, has secured a major export order worth ₹600 crore from Rheinmetall Waffe Munition, a leading German defence and ammunition manufacturer. This is one of the largest export deals in India’s high-tech ammunition sector and highlights the growing strategic partnership between the two companies.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in Reliance Defence’s goal to emerge as one of India’s top three defence exporters. It also aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives by promoting indigenous defence manufacturing and technological self-reliance. Rheinmetall AG CEO Armin Papperger stated that the collaboration reflects the company's long-term commitment to India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

As part of its broader expansion strategy, Reliance is developing the Dhirubhai Ambani Defence City (DADC) in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Once completed, DADC will be the largest greenfield defence manufacturing facility established by a private entity in India, with a focus on producing explosives, ammunition, and small arms for both domestic and international markets.
