Pune’s longest flyover, spanning nearly 2.5 km along the busy Sinhagad Road corridor, was officially inaugurated on September 1, 2025, by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Minister of State for Urban Development, Madhuri Misal. The project marks a significant step in easing chronic traffic congestion in one of the city’s most congested areas.
“The commute between Funtime Cinema and Vitthalwadi will now be faster, smoother, and far more convenient,” said Minister Misal, highlighting the flyover’s potential to drastically reduce travel time and improve daily commutes for thousands.
The ₹118-crore project, launched in September 2021, was completed in August 2025, six months ahead of schedule. Developed in three phases:
Phase 1: A 520-metre stretch at Rajaram Bridge Chowk, costing ₹15 crore, opened in August 2024.
Phase 2: A 2.1-km segment from Vitthalwadi to Funtime Cinema, inaugurated in May 2025, at a cost of ₹61 crore.
Phase 3: A 1.54-km link between Goyal Ganga Chowk and Inamdar Chowk, inaugurated on September 1, with an investment of ₹42 crore.
According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, the flyover will significantly benefit school buses, commercial vehicles, and public transport, enabling motorists to bypass multiple traffic-heavy junctions. Commuters are expected to save 15–25 minutes in daily travel time.
