NHAI's Big Break: Tunnel Completed on Raipur–Vizag Corridor

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) marked a major milestone on October 4, 2025, with the successful breakthrough of a 2.79 km left-hand side twin-tube tunnel on the Raipur–Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor (NH-130CD).

Executed by NHAI’s Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Abhanpur under the Regional Office, Chhattisgarh, this breakthrough represents a key achievement in the development of the corridor, which spans across Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

The tunnel is a crucial component of the corridor, designed to significantly reduce travel time between key economic hubs, boost inter-state connectivity, and facilitate more efficient trade and logistics movement. Once completed, the corridor is expected to enhance regional integration and act as a catalyst for economic development across the three states.

This achievement underscores NHAI’s commitment to accelerating the delivery of high-impact infrastructure projects that support national connectivity, improve logistics performance, and promote balanced regional growth.
