Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), a pioneer in fluid management solutions, has inaugurated a new factory building at its Kaniyur manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, marking 100 years since the company manufactured India’s first centrifugal pump in 1926.
The new facility is designed to enhance productivity and operational efficiency, enabling KBL to cater to growing domestic and international demand while maintaining its stringent quality standards. A major highlight of the expansion is its strong focus on sustainability. Nearly 80 percent of the facility’s electricity requirements are met through renewable energy sources, helping reduce carbon emissions by 122.5 tCO2e and lower Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 89 percent. The solar power installation is also expected to deliver annual cost savings of approximately Rs 21.64 lakh.
The expansion coincides with KBL’s recent order to supply 14,000 pumps for petroleum applications, including ATEX-certified submersible turbine pumps. This order strengthens the company’s position in the retail petroleum segment and enables it to compete more effectively with global players.
