GDA's Elevated Plan: ₹700 Cr for Jam-Free Ghaziabad

To address worsening traffic congestion in Ghaziabad, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has proposed the construction of two elevated roads and a flyover.

The first project involves a 3.5 km, four-lane elevated road linking Raj Nagar Extension to Morti at an estimated cost of ₹350 crore. The second proposal is for a 2 km elevated stretch along GT Road, expected to cost ₹200 crore. These initiatives aim to ease traffic movement and enhance connectivity for daily commuters. According to GDA Vice-Chairperson Nand Kishore Kalal, the elevated corridors will significantly reduce congestion, particularly for long-distance travelers.

In addition, a 1.5 km flyover at the Hapur Chungi intersection—estimated at ₹150 crore—is planned to enable smoother access to National Highway-9. Kalal also suggested exploring tunneling options as a long-term measure to further mitigate traffic issues in the region.
