Direct Route to Progress: New Road Boosts SPPU Dindori Sub-Centre

The under-construction sub-centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) at Shivnai in Dindori taluka will soon benefit from improved connectivity, with a new direct access road planned from the Nashik–Dindori highway, approximately 1.3 km past the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS).

The sub-centre, located on a 63-acre campus near Dhakambe village, is currently accessible only through narrow interior roads via Mhasrul village—posing logistical challenges for students, faculty, and staff. "The existing road is narrow and lacks adequate public transportation options. The new route will not only reduce travel distance by 2 km but also provide direct connectivity via the Nashik–Dindori road, which has robust public transit availability," said SPPU management council member Sagar Vaidya.

Nashik Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) Commissioner Manikrao Gursal confirmed that a proposal has been submitted to the Zilla Parishad to upgrade the three-kilometre stretch—of which 500 metres remain undeveloped.

With construction nearing completion, the SPPU sub-centre is expected to be inaugurated next month, and the new road is seen as a crucial step in enhancing access and infrastructure for the upcoming academic hub.
