JSW Steel has reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.26 million tonnes (MT) for the first quarter of FY26, registering a 14% year-on-year (YoY) increase. However, production declined 5% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) due to planned maintenance shutdowns at key blast furnaces.
These furnaces have since resumed operations and are now functioning at optimal capacity, with capacity utilisation in India reaching 87% for the quarter. As part of its next phase of expansion, the company is targeting an increase in overall crude steel capacity to 43.4 MTPA over the next three years.
The Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka, with a capacity of 17.5 MTPA, continues to hold its position as India’s largest single-location steel-producing facility. JSW Steel’s strategic partnership with JFE Steel of Japan remains a cornerstone in advancing high-value special steel products, serving critical industries such as automotive, infrastructure, and energy.
From its origins as a single manufacturing unit, JSW Steel has grown over the past three decades into India’s leading integrated steel producer, with a current consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 MTPA.
