Bihar's Infrastructure Gets a ₹5,473 Crore Boost

In a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on 2 September 2025, the Bihar government approved several key infrastructure initiatives aimed at modernising the state’s road network and improving regional connectivity.

Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin expressed appreciation for the Chief Minister’s leadership, stating that the decisions would play a vital role in Bihar’s comprehensive development, particularly in enhancing accessibility for citizens.

Key Approvals:

₹589 crore for the construction of a high-level PSC box cell bridge over the Gandak River in Muzaffarpur district, connecting Fatehabad (Paru Block) to Chanchalia (Saraiya Block). The project includes approach roads and is expected to significantly reduce travel time and fuel costs for daily commuters.

Approval of the revised JP Ganga Path project in Patna, a 20.5 km expressway stretching from Digha to Didarganj. The Cabinet has sanctioned ₹4,119.06 crore for land acquisition, utility shifting, and resettlement & rehabilitation (R&R) efforts.

Under the Bihar State Highway Project–III (Phase 2), funded by the Asian Development Bank, the Cabinet approved ₹765.86 crore for the upgradation of SH-95, including the construction of bridges and Road Over Bridges (ROBs) to enhance regional mobility and road safety.

These projects reflect the state government’s continued focus on infrastructure-driven growth, improving connectivity, logistics, and public convenience across Bihar.
