On May 20, 2025, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated 4,978 newly constructed housing units developed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB). Built at a cost of ₹527 crore, these housing units are spread across multiple districts including Chennai, Cuddalore, Erode, Kallakurichi, Kancheepuram, Karur, Madurai, Pudukkottai, Virudhunagar, Tiruppur, and Tiruvarur. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen urban housing infrastructure across the state.
In addition, the Chief Minister inaugurated four new commercial complexes constructed by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. Located at Nerkundram, two sites in C.I.T. Nagar, and Thoppur in Madurai, these complexes were developed at a total cost of ₹207 crore.
The virtual inauguration event was attended by Ministers S. Muthusamy and T.M. Anbarasan, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and other senior officials. These large-scale residential and commercial infrastructure projects reflect the state government’s continued commitment to enhancing urban living standards and supporting economic development across Tamil Nadu.
