The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has cleared a proposal to develop a dedicated jetty and allied infrastructure at Paradip Port Authority for handling green hydrogen, ammonia, and other liquid cargo. The project, estimated at ₹797.17 crore, will be implemented by the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, officials confirmed on Thursday.
PPA Chairman P. L. Haranadh said the upcoming facility will have an annual handling capacity of four million tonnes and is expected to significantly strengthen Paradip’s emergence as a green energy cargo hub. The scope of work includes construction of a specialised jetty, storage tanks, pipeline networks, cargo handling systems, and other supporting infrastructure.
As part of the financing plan, the port authority will contribute 20% of the project cost during the construction phase—amounting to ₹159.43 crore. The facility is slated for completion within 24 months, Haranadh added.
