Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on 7 September 2025, laid the foundation stones for nine key development projects worth ₹558 crore in Siwan district, aimed at upgrading road connectivity and power infrastructure.
Road Infrastructure Projects (₹225 crore total):
Four major road projects are set to enhance regional connectivity:
Widening of the Pachrukkhi Bypass (from Mohammadpur Mod on NH-531 to Chhapia Tedhi Ghat Gopalpur on NH-227) – ₹120 crore, Upgradation of the Siwan–Andar Road – ₹67 crore, Development of the Bhanta Pokhar–Jiradei Road – ₹18 crore, Construction of a Rail Overbridge at level crossing 91 on SH-29 – ₹20 crore (approx.)
Power Infrastructure Projects (₹333 crore total):
Five projects will significantly strengthen power supply and transmission:
New Grid Sub-station at Mairwa – ₹222 crore, Power Sub-centre at Sonkara–Andar – ₹10 crore, Sub-centre at Madhopur–Maharajganj – ₹9 crore, Second Circuit of the Mashrakh–Maharajganj Transmission Line – ₹9 crore, New Grid Sub-centre at Siswan – ₹8 crore
These infrastructure developments are expected to improve road safety, boost power distribution reliability, and drive local economic growth, ultimately empowering communities across the Siwan district.
