Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has unveiled plans for a new city gas distribution (CGD) policy to boost the development of natural gas infrastructure in the state.
The policy aims to attract both public and private investments in pipeline and distribution networks, enhancing energy security and promoting cleaner energy use across industries and households. Rastogi highlighted that the initiative will ensure fair competition, consumer safety, and ease of doing business, positioning Haryana as a leader in sustainable energy. “Expanding the CGD network will reduce the state’s reliance on crude oil while advancing cleaner alternatives,” he noted.
The draft policy, expected to be finalised by 2025, streamlines approval processes for companies and introduces a transparent fee structure. The Industries and Commerce Department will oversee its implementation, updating the 2010 framework to align with current technological and industrial requirements.
