The Expert Appraisal Committee (Non-Coal Mining Sector) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, has granted Environmental Clearance for the Gold Ore Processing Plant component of the Jonnagiri Gold Project. This project is spearheaded by Geomysore Services (India) Pvt Ltd, an associate company of Deccan Gold Mines Limited. The approval was granted during the EAC meeting held on March 25, 2025, with the official minutes published on the Ministry’s portal on April 18, 2025.
A key step in the clearance process was the successful public consultation conducted on February 18, 2025, in Jonnagiri, Andhra Pradesh. Feedback from this consultation informed the EAC’s review and final recommendation for environmental clearance.
With this milestone achieved, Geomysore will now proceed to obtain the Consent for Operations from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, paving the way for the commencement of gold production at the Jonnagiri site.
Dr. Hanuma Prasad Modali, Managing Director of Geomysore, thanked all stakeholders for their continued support, describing the clearance as a significant milestone in the path toward commissioning the project. He noted, “This will be India’s first private sector gold mine, and we are committed to keeping our shareholders updated on all future developments.”
