Patna’s New Path: Northern Ring Road Alignment Officially Approved

The Bihar government has approved the alignment for the northern section of the Patna Ring Road, connecting Dighwara and Sarai, in a move aimed at improving connectivity and supporting regional development.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting in Patna focused on national highway projects and initiatives led by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The meeting was chaired by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra and attended by senior state officials. During the discussion, Bihar’s Road Construction Department Secretary, Pankaj Kumar Pal, shared updates on the overall progress of the Patna Ring Road project, including land acquisition, construction timelines, and traffic management plans.

The revised alignment of the northern section is expected to improve access for passengers travelling to the proposed greenfield airport at Sonepur. It will also help decongest local roads while enhancing connectivity to neighbouring districts such as Vaishali and Saran, which could, in turn, support industrial growth and attract new investments.

Overall, the project reflects Bihar’s focus on strengthening transport infrastructure, improving mobility, and facilitating long-term economic development, while ensuring safer and more efficient travel around Patna.
