Highway to the Future: The ₹941 Crore Integrated Makeover

The state government’s proposal to construct a double-decker flyover along the LB Nagar–Hayathnagar stretch leading to NH-65 has been revised, with authorities now preparing an updated Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Central approval.

The revised plan integrates the Metro rail viaduct and flyover into a single multi-tier structure, instead of executing them as separate projects. The redesigned system includes a three-tier configuration comprising an underpass, a three-lane flyover, and an elevated Metro corridor on the top deck, inspired by similar infrastructure in Nagpur. The project spans approximately 5.5 km and is estimated to cost around ₹941 crore, with funding expected to be shared between the Centre and the state government.

The corridor, extending towards Pedda Amberpet, is aimed at easing congestion, improving safety, and streamlining traffic flow for nearly 12 lakh residents. Officials believe the integrated approach will reduce construction challenges, minimise disruption, and enhance long-term urban mobility and infrastructure efficiency along this busy highway stretch.
