Nagpur’s ₹332 Cr Ajni Cable Bridge: Phase 1 Takes Shape

Nagpur’s ₹332 crore Ajni twin cable-stayed bridge project has hit a major construction milestone with the successful launching of its initial segments. Developed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC) to replace the 125-year-old British-era railway overbridge, the project will transform transit between South and Central Nagpur. Work is moving forward rapidly on the first cable-stayed span, where 8 of the 28 planned segments and 3 of the 24 pairs of high-tensile cables are already installed. Phase 1 will deliver a three-lane section designed to manage initial two-way traffic before expanding into the full six-lane capacity. Phase 1 is slated to open to commuters by the end of the year.
