The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a committee to finalise the technical specifications and implementation framework for installing water meters across commercial establishments and institutions.
Formed under Government Order No. 75–JK(JSD) of 2026, the panel has been tasked with evaluating and recommending suitable specifications for commercial water meters. The committee is headed by the Director Finance of the Jal Shakti Department and includes senior officials such as the Director Planning, Superintending Engineers from UEED Srinagar, Hydraulic Circle Srinagar, and Mechanical Urban Circle Jammu, along with the Executive Engineer QC and PD Srinagar.
Its mandate covers key aspects including procurement methods, assessment of required quantities, and the development of an operation and maintenance (O&M) strategy for the proposed system.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening water usage monitoring, improving efficiency, and enabling better resource management across Jammu and Kashmir.
