The Vizianagaram District Administration has stepped up efforts to complete pending land acquisitions for several major infrastructure projects after receiving directions from the state government to conclude the process within the next two months.
Approximately 800 acres of land are required for a range of ongoing and proposed developments across the district, covering irrigation, transport, and institutional infrastructure projects. One of the key priority projects is the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to commence classes at its new campus in Chinamedapalli village near Mentada during the 2026–27 academic year. Additional land is needed for the second phase of development, including approach roads and supporting infrastructure.
Land acquisition activities are also in progress for the Tarakarama Teertha Sagar, Thotapalli, and Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi projects. Meanwhile, the Railway Department has sought expedited acquisition for the Kothavalasa–Vizianagaram fourth railway line project, while development works linked to the Bhogapuram International Airport are also being prioritised.
Officials stated that adequate funding has been allocated for the acquisitions and assured that compensation payments to landowners will be processed promptly to accelerate implementation.
To ensure timely execution, the administration has scheduled weekly review meetings to closely monitor progress across all projects.
