Chief Minister N. Rangasamy announced the development of a 750-acre industrial estate in Puducherry, marking a significant step toward attracting investments and creating employment opportunities in the Union Territory.
The announcement was made on 23 August, 2025, during the awards ceremony of the International Business Summit and Expo, hosted by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) at the Old Port Grounds. Seventeen individuals, including GOPIO members and Indian dignitaries, were honoured at the event.
Highlighting Puducherry’s investor-friendly ecosystem, CM Rangasamy cited key advantages such as uninterrupted power supply, a skilled workforce, and a large pool of educated youth. He invited members of the Indian diaspora to invest in the region, assuring full government support: “We consider investments by the Indian diaspora to be very important. The Puducherry Government will extend all support.”
Tourism Minister K. Lakshminarayanan also spoke at the event, underscoring Puducherry’s strengths in education, healthcare, and tourism, and its reputation as one of Asia’s most walkable cities, while commending the CM’s progressive welfare initiatives.
