Bharat Future City: Hyderabad's New Horizon

The Telangana government is moving forward with plans to develop Bharat Future City, a sprawling 765 sq. km urban-industrial hub in south Hyderabad, under the newly established Future City Development Authority (FCDA).

Conceived by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the project will be implemented by the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC), with master planning led by a global consultancy. Envisioned as a benchmark for sustainable and inclusive urbanisation, the city will feature dedicated zones for artificial intelligence, life sciences, electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles, energy storage, healthcare, tourism, film production, and education and research.

Designed as India’s first net-zero smart industrial city, Bharat Future City will accommodate over one million residents, integrating industrial clusters, residential neighborhoods, and comprehensive civic amenities. Following a “Live, Learn, Work, Play” model, the plan includes walk-to-work zones, eco-sensitive development near reserve forests, and hospitality infrastructure to promote tourism.

Connectivity infrastructure will include an internal metro rail, Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRTS), and strategic proximity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The city’s jurisdiction spans key corridors near the Outer Ring Road, Srisailam Highway, and Nagarjunasagar Highway.

To mobilize capital, the state is positioning the project for international financing from agencies such as JICA, the World Bank, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
