Taj Expansion: IHCL's ₹1,200 Crore Boost

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced plans to invest over ₹1,200 crore in FY2025–26, following a ₹1,000 crore investment in FY2024–25. This increased capital outlay is focused on strengthening asset management, upgrading existing properties, and launching new developments, with a particular emphasis on expanding the Taj Hotels brand.

The strategy reflects IHCL’s confidence in the growing domestic and international travel demand, supported by a rebound in foreign tourist arrivals and strong momentum in the leisure, social, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) segments.

IHCL aims to drive growth through a combination of improved performance at existing properties and the introduction of new business initiatives. In FY2025–26, it plans to open 30 new hotels, continuing its asset-light approach—over 95% of the previous year's signings were under management or franchise agreements.
