ECL Awards ₹2,463 Crore Continuous Miner Contract to JMS Mining

Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (ECL) has declared JMS Mining as the lowest (L1) bidder for a contract to deploy continuous miner technology at Bansra Colliery in West Bengal.

The project aims to boost underground coal production by adopting continuous miner technology with backfilling, targeting the extraction of the R-VII (Kunustoria) seam. The operation will utilize two low-height continuous miners (LHCMs) to achieve an annual production capacity of 0.54 million tonnes, under the Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) model. The total bid value for the project stands at ₹2,463.4 crore.

This contract marks a significant step in ECL’s modernization strategy, focusing on the integration of advanced mining technologies to enhance productivity, operational safety, and efficiency in underground coal mining.
