Delhi-Gurugram Metro: A Decade Later, The Link Is Back on Track

Nearly a decade after being shelved, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is revisiting plans to develop a 12-km metro corridor connecting Dwarka and Gurugram, aimed at improving regional connectivity and reducing travel gaps for commuters and air passengers.

The proposed line will extend from Yashobhoomi Station in Dwarka Sector-25 (on the Airport Express Line) to IFFCO Chowk on the Delhi–Jaipur Expressway. Planned stations along the route include Bharthal, Bijwasan, Carterpuri, and Tau Devi Lal Park (Sector 23), with an interchange at Sector 23 on the Gurugram Metro Rail corridor.

If implemented, the corridor would provide seamless access between Dwarka and major employment hubs such as Udyog Vihar, Cyber City, Hero Honda Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and Sector 44, enhancing last-mile connectivity for both commuters and air travelers.

Earlier Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) prepared in 2011 and 2015 were dropped due to viability concerns. Now, both this corridor and the proposed Rezang La Chowk–Dwarka Sector 21 line are under active government review. Final approvals from the Haryana and Union governments will determine feasibility, with updated DPRs to outline project costs, ridership estimates, and funding models.
