Odisha's Energy Future: WAPCOS to Drive 600 MW Upper Indravati PSP

WAPCOS has entered into a contract agreement with Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) to provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project (PSP), located at Mukhiguda in Kalahandi district.

The agreement was signed and exchanged on June 6, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.

Situated approximately 500 meters from the existing Upper Indravati reservoir, the proposed project will feature four units of 150 MW each. This innovative PSP aims to enhance energy storage and grid stability in the region.

The PMC contract marks a significant milestone in the project’s development, focusing on technical, commercial, and operational excellence throughout execution. WAPCOS has also prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the scheme.

This initiative supports India’s national goal of achieving 500 GW of installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.
