Construction of the Megha Budhal-Mahore-Gool Road in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district is progressing rapidly under the supervision of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), officials confirmed on July 13, 2025.
The 114-km stretch is being upgraded to National Highway double-lane standards and aims to improve connectivity between the towns of Budhal, Mahore, and Gool. “The road is divided into four packages, with active construction currently underway on 50 km,” said BRO Commanding Officer Aditya Sharma. “We are working to complete the project swiftly and in full compliance with specifications.”
This strategic route will enhance connectivity between the districts of Rajouri, Reasi, and Ramban, strengthening access across the Pir Panjal region.
Simultaneously, work has been fast-tracked on the Rajouri-Thannamandi-Bufliaz-Surankote Road, also part of the Megha Project. This vital link connects the Pir Panjal region to the Kashmir Valley via the Mughal Road. Key construction activities include blacktopping, road widening, surface clearance, and the construction of protective walls.
