Hyundai Motor India is set to significantly expand its manufacturing footprint with the commissioning of its new facility in Talegaon, Pune, scheduled for the third quarter of FY26.
According to the company’s FY25 annual report, this expansion will increase Hyundai’s total annual production capacity from the current 8,24,000 units to 9,94,000 units, and eventually to 1,074,000 units once the Talegaon plant is fully operational. While full vehicle assembly is expected to begin in the coming quarters, engine manufacturing has already commenced at the new site, with an initial annual capacity of 1.5 lakh units.
The Talegaon facility will play a critical role in Hyundai’s SUV and electric vehicle (EV) strategy, featuring lean manufacturing systems, advanced automation, and enhanced localisation. This move is designed to meet rising domestic demand while bolstering Hyundai’s export capacity.
As Hyundai nears the one-million-unit milestone in India, this strategic investment is poised to strengthen its position in the fast-growing SUV and EV segments, further consolidating its competitive edge in the evolving Indian automotive landscape.
