Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas has urged officials to expedite the finalisation of a tripartite agreement to support seamless industrial development in the Rajasthan Petro Zone (RPZ) at Balotra.
The proposed agreement, involving HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL), the state government, and downstream industries, is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted feedstock supply from the upcoming refinery to industrial units. Srinivas highlighted the need for a well-coordinated ecosystem linking the refinery with downstream sectors to maximise economic benefits.
The RPZ, being developed by RIICO near the refinery site, is designed to promote industries such as plastics, chemicals, and allied sectors by enabling efficient utilisation of refinery by-products. Officials noted that a draft agreement has already been prepared in line with state directives.
The Chief Secretary also directed departments to complete all procedural requirements ahead of the proposed inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21. The refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Balotra, with a capacity of 9 MMTPA, is a joint venture between the Rajasthan government and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and will be operated by HRRL.
