Tractor Titans: CNH Builds New Plant to Power India Expansion

CNH has announced plans to establish its fourth manufacturing facility in India, marking its second plant dedicated exclusively to tractors, as part of its long-term strategy to capture 10% of the Indian tractor market within the next five to six years.

The proposed plant—currently in the evaluation stage with land acquisition discussions underway—is expected to be larger than the company’s existing Greater Noida facility and will be developed in multiple phases. Confirming the company’s expansion strategy, CEO Gerrit Marx stated, “We are running scenarios to add another plant in India. This will enable us to grow into a double-digit market share for tractors over the next five years.”

Currently, CNH manufactures up to 70,000 tractors annually at its Greater Noida facility. In 2024, it produced 51,000 units, of which 37,000 were sold domestically, with the remainder exported to Europe, Africa, and the United States.

India continues to serve as a strategic hub for CNH, not only for manufacturing but also for engineering, digital fleet management, and smart farming solutions, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation and global competitiveness.
