Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO) has announced a strategic partnership with Japan’s Ichikoh Industries to acquire Valeo’s automotive lighting business in India, marking a significant expansion into advanced lighting solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The acquisition will be carried out through a 50:50 joint venture, which will assume control of Valeo Lighting Systems (VLS), the lighting division of Valeo India. This collaboration brings together Ichikoh’s 120+ years of technological expertise in automotive lighting with Tata AutoComp’s strong market presence and trusted brand reputation.
Commenting on the partnership, Tata AutoComp Vice Chairman Arvind Goel stated that the joint venture will enable the delivery of “technologically superior and differentiated lighting solutions” to Indian OEMs. Ichikoh CEO Christophe Vilatte noted that the JV will leverage both companies' strengths to effectively address the evolving needs of India’s dynamic automotive market.
The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed. The transaction is subject to the signing of definitive agreements and necessary regulatory approvals. Once completed, the joint venture will focus on offering cutting-edge, high-quality automotive lighting products tailored for the Indian market.
