Worli BDD Chawl Redevelopment: A Landmark in Urban Renewal

The first phase of the Worli BDD Chawl redevelopment project was formally inaugurated with the handover of 556 newly redeveloped homes to eligible residents by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.

The project, spearheaded by MHADA and executed by TCC Construction—a joint venture between Tata Projects and Capacit’e Infraprojects—marks a major milestone in one of India’s largest public housing transformations.

The redevelopment will replace the century-old chawl structures with a modern township comprising 33 rehabilitation towers, each rising 40 storeys to accommodate 9,680 tenants, along with 10 super high-rise sale towers and a commercial building. Each 2-BHK apartment offers a 500 sq. ft. carpet area, along with modern amenities and upgraded civic infrastructure.

The project represents a landmark in urban renewal, blending engineering excellence with social impact to improve quality of life and foster inclusive growth in the heart of Mumbai.
