The West Bengal state government has approved the allotment of 149.6 acres of land to Captain Industries and Ultratech Cement on a freehold basis in Jhargram district.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya. The land, situated across the Sukhnibas and Ghagrasol mouzas in Jhargram, has been allocated through the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC). With this approval, both companies will gain full ownership of the allotted land, facilitating the expansion of their industrial operations in the region.
Captain Industries, co-founded by former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, had initially announced its project plans two years ago in Madrid, during a meeting where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee invited global business leaders to participate in the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).
