The Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) has launched a fresh bidding process for a major infrastructure project aimed at transforming Town Planning (TP) schemes 1, 2, and 3. Spanning the rapidly growing Tomando–Chandaka corridor on Bhubaneswar’s outskirts, the ₹18.10-crore initiative will deliver a 24x7 water supply system and a comprehensive underground sewerage network.
Managed in alignment with the Bhubaneswar Development Authority’s (BDA) urban growth strategy, the project features:
Water Supply: A 171-km distribution network, elevated reservoirs, and automated household metering to serve over 5,100 homes with round-the-clock potable water.
Sewerage Infrastructure: An underground drainage network, modern pumping stations, a 20 MLD treatment plant, and nearly 5,000 household sewer connections.
BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana highlighted the Tomando–Chandaka belt as a critical growth center for the city's future expansion, making these essential civic amenities vital for structured urban development.
