UPPCL Lights Up Ghaziabad: ₹220 Crore Power Upgrade Approved

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) has approved a ₹220 crore budget for comprehensive power infrastructure upgrades and repair works across three zones in Ghaziabad for FY2025–26.

The initiative encompasses approximately 1,369 projects, with execution slated to begin in October 2025 and targeted for completion by February 2026. Key works include:

Capacity enhancement of existing distribution transformers, Installation of new 250 kVA transformers, Strengthening of 33 kV and 11 kV lines, Feeder bifurcation, Replacement of aging low-tension (LT) wires, Upgradation of damaged vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs), Construction of new 33/11 kV substations and lines

Zone-wise allocations are as follows:

Zone 1: ₹85.66 crore, Zone 2: ₹59.22 crore, Zone 3: ₹73.78 crore

Pawan Aggarwal, Chief Engineer for Zone 1, confirmed that tender finalisation will take place after the festive season. Meanwhile, Deepak Aggarwal, Chief Engineer for Zone 3, reported that nearly 60% of last year’s ₹220 crore projects have already been completed, with over 70% progress in some areas.

This upgrade initiative is aimed at enhancing reliability, reducing outages, and preparing the city’s power infrastructure to meet rising demand.
