UPMRCL Awards ₹107.8 Cr Vasant Kunj Depot Contract to GHV India

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRCL) has awarded a ₹107.79 crore contract to GHV (India) Pvt. Ltd. for the construction of a depot-cum-workshop at Vasant Kunj on Hardoi Road, a key facility for the upcoming Lucknow Metro East-West Corridor.

The contract, awarded on June 9, 2026, under tender number LKCC(02)-01, has a completion period of 540 days. A total of five firms participated in the bidding process, with GHV India emerging as the lowest bidder (L1). The other four bidders were eliminated following the financial evaluation stage.

The project scope covers the development of a comprehensive depot and workshop complex, including civil, structural and architectural works, as well as plumbing, water supply, sewerage and drainage systems. It also encompasses pre-engineered building (PEB) works, electrical and mechanical installations, HVAC systems, firefighting infrastructure, and external development works such as internal roads and utility networks.

Designed to function as the primary operations and maintenance hub for the East-West Corridor, the depot will support train stabling, inspection, maintenance and other essential operational activities.

The 11.2-km East-West Corridor is part of Lucknow Metro Phase 1B and will connect Charbagh Railway Station with Vasant Kunj through a combination of underground and elevated sections. The corridor will feature 12 stations and is expected to significantly enhance urban mobility across the city. Once operational, the Vasant Kunj depot will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient train operations, service reliability and long-term maintenance support for the corridor.
