UP Rail Expansion: Mathura–Aligarh 60 km Direct Line Planned

Indian Railways has officially launched the final location survey for a proposed 60 km direct rail line between Mathura and Aligarh via Medu Junction on the North Eastern Railway. Addressing a long-standing transit gap, the new link aims to connect the two major Uttar Pradesh cities by direct rail for the first time since India’s independence 79 years ago. Once completed, the project will significantly reduce travel times, ease logistical hurdles, and offer thousands of daily road and indirect-train commuters a faster, seamless alternative.
