TruAlt Bioenergy, a Karnataka-based biofuels producer, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to set up one of the world’s largest sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facilities in the Srikakulam–Vizianagaram region.
The company plans to invest ₹2,250 crore to develop an integrated ethanol-to-SAF plant with an annual production capacity of 80,000 tonnes. The facility will convert sugar-based feedstock into ethanol, which will then be refined into aviation-grade jet fuel. TruAlt noted that it will leverage its expertise in feedstock integration and ethanol production to deliver low-emission, globally certified SAF while building a robust, large-scale supply chain anchored in India’s agricultural resources.
Managing Director Vijay Nirani described the agreement as a major milestone in India’s clean-energy transition and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the nation’s upcoming SAF blending mandate. The proposed facility is expected to generate over 500 direct and nearly 2,000 indirect jobs, driving economic growth in allied sectors and significantly contributing to regional industrial development.
