Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that the state government is in discussions with a business group to set up a bamboo-based ethanol production facility, aimed at boosting industrial activity in the state.
Addressing the 36th Tripura Industries and Commerce Fair at Hapania, the Chief Minister highlighted bamboo—abundantly available in Tripura—as a potential key raw material for ethanol production. He also underscored the state’s strong potential in industries linked to bamboo, cane, pineapple, agarwood, and rubber.
CM Saha noted that Tripura recently secured memoranda of understanding worth Rs 3,800 crore during a business conclave, attributing the growing investment interest to simplified industrial policies, investor-friendly incentives, and continuous engagement with industry stakeholders. The fair, which runs until February 12, features around 580 stalls and showcases the state’s expanding industrial landscape.
He further mentioned that a major telecom company has started construction of the first data centre in Northeast India, signalling Tripura’s growing appeal as an investment destination.
